This evening, Tuesday, January 22nd, students and staff of CVUSD received a recorded phone message from Superintendent Mario Contini notifying us that the process of identifying the final two elementary schools for closure is temporarily suspended.
No recommendation for school closure will be offered at the Feb. 5 Board Meeting. The Board will more deeply explore the outcome of the first phase of criteria before beginning the 2nd phase of the process.
Parents and staff will be notified of the next steps following the Feb. 5 Board Meeting.

I was doing the happy dance when I got the call yesterday afternoon! I am realistic. I know that we still have far to go, but this is worth a celebration.
Don't be complacent now and think we have nothing to worry about. We have many parents working toward saving our schools. If you are not already involved, please get involved now.

I was under the impression that there was no meeting happening. Can anyone from the committee comment?
I also thought that the meeting on Mon. 1/28 has been cancelled. In fact Maple's School Site Council Meeting was postponed from Monday the 28th to Wednesday the 30th because of the Facilities meeting, then they moved SSC back to Monday because the meeting on the 28th at the district had been postponed. I am sure there is no Facilities Meeting anymore on the 28th. Stay tuned....I am sure they will reschedule it.
I was also wondering about the meeting on 1/28. I would think the Committee would need to meet to regroup and discuss the reason for the postponement.
I cannot find any information on the CVUSD website that posts anything other then the Board meeting agendas.
Please let me know if and when the meeting will be. I will gladly attend, simply to listen to their discussions. I would expect that meeting would be very interesting.
I am a committee member and the meeting has been canceled. No future date has been set yet.
I have just heard that all CVUSD employees received an email yesterday or today announcing a district wide HIRING FREEZE.
Does anyone have any details on this?
Was this already in the works or perhaps a result of re-examining the budget and possible school closures?
